Day 6 — Higher and Lower Ways of Being

"The essence of hierarchy is that there is something living as a reality in certain people, which in the rest is only present in the condition of an ideal, a premonition, an unfocused effort." — Julius Evola, on the secret of degeneration

Not all human lives are equal in rank. This statement offends the modern ear, yet it is one of the most basic Traditional insights.

There are ways of living that are more complete, more self-possessed, more in contact with what is essential in man. There are other ways that remain scattered, reactive, and dominated by the immediate environment. The difference is not mainly about wealth, education, or social position. It is about the presence or absence of an inner hierarchy. A man who has ordered himself, who has a center and is not ruled by every impulse or external pressure, stands higher than one who has not, regardless of outward success.

Most of modern culture works to deny this difference. You will be told that any ranking of human types is a form of violence. The teaching is so thorough that many young men feel guilt the moment they notice real differences in quality. That guilt is trained. It is not a natural response to reality. Seeing the training for what it is already weakens its hold.

The task here is to see the difference clearly again and to stop apologizing for seeing it. Clarity on this point changes how a man measures himself and what he is willing to become.
