Day 265 — The Unbroken Vertical

"The vertical remains unbroken in the man who still orients himself by it when every collective expression of that orientation has been destroyed." — Julius Evola, Revolt Against the Modern World

The unbroken vertical continues after every collective expression of higher orientation has been leveled. The residual man continues to stand according to the permanent axis even though the age offers no confirming structures and no shared direction. The vertical itself remains intact. Only the collective vehicles that once made it visible have disappeared.

Young men who still sense the vertical often look for residual movements or residual symbols that will express it from outside. Most of those movements have already absorbed the horizontal logic of the age. The residual path does not wait for external expression. It continues to orient itself from the interior center that still perceives the permanent axis.

This solitary orientation is the residual form of the older traditional vertical that once ordered both the individual and the higher functions of a civilization. The man who keeps the vertical present already performs the residual act. That act does not require a collective horizon to remain real.

Keep the unbroken vertical. Do not wait for the age to restore conditions in which higher orientation is publicly available. The residual act is to keep the permanent axis effective in a world that systematically levels every vertical reference. That effectiveness is the continuity of the higher type.
