Day 271 — Standing Without Horizon

"The man who stands does not require a horizon that confirms his standing. The act itself is the confirmation." — Julius Evola, Ride the Tiger

Standing without horizon continues after every collective horizon of higher life has been closed. The residual man continues to stand according to the permanent measure even though the age offers no confirming direction and no shared future. The standing itself remains intact. Only the collective horizons that once oriented it have disappeared.

Young men who still seek orientation often look for residual movements or residual visions that will supply a horizon for them. Most of those visions have already been reshaped by the horizontal forces that dominate the age. The residual path does not wait for a collective horizon. It continues to stand from the interior center that still holds the vertical measure.

This solitary standing is the residual form of the older traditional stance that once ordered both the individual and the higher functions of a civilization. The man who remains upright already performs the residual act. That act does not require a collective future to remain real.

Stand without horizon. Do not wait for the age to restore conditions in which higher life is publicly oriented. The residual act is to keep the permanent measure effective in a world that systematically closes every vertical horizon. That effectiveness is the continuity of the higher type.
