Day 297 — The Type That Remains Standing

"The type remains standing when every collective condition that once supported it has disappeared. It remains in the man who still embodies its criteria." — Julius Evola, Ride the Tiger

The type that remains standing is the residual reality of the higher form after every collective support has been dissolved. The residual man continues as that type even though the age offers no confirming environment and no shared rank. The type itself remains intact. Only the collective conditions that once made it public have disappeared.

Young men who still sense the possibility of a higher type often look for residual environments or residual communities that will sustain the type for them. Most of those environments have already been reshaped by the horizontal forces that dominate the age. The residual path does not wait for external sustenance. It continues as the permanent type from the interior center that still holds the vertical measure.

This solitary standing is the residual form of the older traditional type that once ordered both the individual and the civilization. The man who remains the type already performs the residual act. That act does not require a collective environment to remain real.

Remain the type. Do not wait for the age to restore conditions in which the higher type is publicly supported. The residual act is to keep the permanent measure of the type effective in every concrete decision. That effectiveness is the continuity of the higher type under residual conditions.
