Day 299 — Action From Permanent Orientation

"Action from permanent orientation does not require the survival of a world that once shared that orientation. It continues in the man who still determines every movement from the interior pole." — Julius Evola, Ride the Tiger

Action from permanent orientation is the residual capacity to move according to the vertical criterion after every collective orientation of higher order has been erased. The residual man continues to act from that orientation even though the age supplies no confirming horizon. The orientation itself remains intact. Only the collective coordinates that once made direction shared have disappeared.

Young men who still seek a firm basis for action often look for residual maps or residual authorities that will supply the orientation from outside. Most of those maps have already been redrawn by the horizontal forces that dominate the age. The residual path does not wait for external coordinates. It continues as the permanent direction from the interior pole that still holds the vertical measure.

This solitary action is the residual form of the older traditional capacity to move under a higher law. The man who continues to act from the permanent orientation already performs the residual act. That act does not require a shared horizon to remain real.

Act from the orientation. Do not wait for the age to restore conditions in which higher direction is publicly available. The residual act is to keep the permanent orientation decisive in every concrete movement. That decisiveness is the continuity of the higher type under residual conditions.
