Day 306 — The Permanent Type Alone

"The higher type does not require the company of a civilization that once produced it. It continues as the living form of the man who still embodies it." — Julius Evola, Ride the Tiger

The permanent type alone is the residual capacity to remain the higher man after every collective type of superior order has been dissolved. The residual man continues to embody that type even though the age offers no confirming environment for it. The type itself remains intact. Only the collective conditions that once made its appearance public have disappeared.

Young men who still feel the pressure of a higher standard often look for residual groups or residual traditions that will keep the type alive around them. Most of those groups have already been emptied by the horizontal forces that dominate the age. The residual path does not wait for external company. It continues as the permanent form from the interior center that still holds the vertical measure.

This solitary type is the residual form of the older traditional knowledge of the superior man. The man who continues to embody it already performs the residual act. That act does not require collective recognition to remain real.

Remain the type. Do not wait for the age to restore conditions in which the higher man is collectively formed. The residual act is to keep the permanent measure decisive in every concrete decision. That decisiveness is the continuity of the higher type under residual conditions.
