Clarity under residual conditions is the residual capacity to see without distortion after every collective clarity of higher order has been clouded. The residual man continues to see clearly even though the age offers no confirming light. The clarity itself remains intact. Only the collective lights that once made its force public have disappeared.
Young men who still feel the demand for clear sight often look for residual teachings or residual authorities that will keep the clarity alive around them. Most of those authorities have already been emptied by the horizontal forces that dominate the age. The residual path does not wait for external light. It continues as the permanent vision from the interior center that still holds the vertical measure.
This solitary clarity is the residual form of the older traditional knowledge of right seeing. The man who continues to see clearly already performs the residual act. That act does not require collective lights to remain real.
See clearly. Do not wait for the age to restore conditions in which higher vision is collectively possible. The residual act is to keep the permanent measure decisive in every concrete perception. That decisiveness is the continuity of the higher type under residual conditions.
