The differentiated individual must remain differentiated under residual conditions. The age works continuously to dissolve every distinction of quality. The residual task is to keep the distinction intact. The man who remains differentiated already occupies the residual position that the cycle still permits.
Young men who still feel the difference often interpret it as a temporary advantage that must be protected by residual groups or projects. Most of those protections become new forms of belonging that compromise the original distinction. The residual path does not seek such protection. It continues the differentiation without waiting for external support.
Remaining differentiated is not a matter of isolation for its own sake. It is the residual form of the older hierarchical distinction that once ordered traditional societies. The man who keeps it present already carries the residual quality. That quality does not require recognition to remain effective.
Remain differentiated. Do not wait for the age to become less leveling. The residual act is to keep the distinction of quality present in a world that has abolished it. That presence is the continuity of the higher type.
