Day 220 — Vertical Continuity in the Residual Age

"Vertical continuity must be maintained by the individual when every collective form of that continuity has been dissolved." — Julius Evola, Revolt Against the Modern World

Vertical continuity must now be maintained without any collective structure that once made it possible. The residual man continues the same orientation that once ordered traditional civilizations. The continuity is residual because it no longer depends on external supports. The orientation itself remains the same.

Young men who still sense the vertical often look for residual institutions or lineages that will carry the continuity for them. Most of what they find has already been shaped by the horizontal forces of the age. The residual path does not wait for such carriers. It continues the vertical orientation from within.

This interior continuity is the residual form of the older traditional axis that once connected the individual to higher orders of being. The man who keeps it present already performs the residual duty. That duty does not become less real because it is no longer collective.

Maintain vertical continuity. Do not wait for the age to restore the structures that once made continuity a shared reality. The residual act is to keep the permanent orientation effective in a world that has no place for it. That effectiveness is the continuity of the higher type.
