Day 231 — Residual Form

"Form continues as a real principle even when every collective embodiment of form has been dissolved by the cycle. The differentiated individual becomes the residual carrier of that principle." — Julius Evola, Revolt Against the Modern World

Residual form must now be maintained without any external structure that once gave it visible shape. The residual man continues to give form to himself according to the permanent standard even though the age dissolves every form it encounters. Form remains real because it is rooted in the vertical criterion, not in the temporary arrangements of a civilization.

Young men who still value form often look for residual institutions or residual styles that will supply shape from outside. Most of those institutions have already been hollowed out by the horizontal forces of the age. The residual path does not wait for external form. It continues to impose form from the interior center that still perceives its necessity.

This interior form is the residual expression of the older traditional principle that once ordered both the individual and the civilization. The man who keeps forming himself already carries the residual distinction. That distinction does not require collective confirmation to remain effective.

Maintain residual form. Do not wait for the age to restore structures capable of supporting higher shape. The residual act is to keep the permanent standard of form present in a world that systematically dissolves it. That presence is the continuity of the higher type.
